“First Eleven”

Burnham 2nd XI 244 - 4 (49 overs) Datchet 247 - 7 (49.3 overs) Won by 3 wickets. Datchet 20 points Burnham 13 points.

After a dashing start Burnham ended up with an average score. The early declaration showed faith in their attack.
Russell Lane (36) got Datchet off to the usual brisk start but when he was out wickets started to tumble and at 126 - 5 victory looked a long way off.
However, Tim Aldiss with a fine innings of 85 and Skipper Mark Shepherd (24) took the score past the 200 mark. Both were out in quick sucession and it was left to James Lambert with 25 not out and a limping Andrew Dick with 9 not out to see Datchet Home.
Five wins in a row but unfortunately, second placed Wokingham also won. Datchet visit Wokingham next week with the title a mathematical possibility but very unlikely.
We have to score over 200 - 2 and bowl them out for less than 100!!

See League table.

With Kew Fair in full swing Datchet struggled for runs. Steve Doddington managed 40 but others got in but got out!
When they bowled wickets fell at the right time for Datchet but Kew got home with time and wickets to spare.

Kew Gardens looks better than the cricket ground!

Datchet 3rd XI 194 - 8 (52 overs) Chiswick and Latymer 4th XI 178 - 8 (42 overs) Won by 145 runs. Datchet 12 points Chiswick 8 points.

Datchet were indebted to a half century partnership between opening bowlers Amar Arif and Captain Nick Bellman for a respactable score.
Nick then starred with the ball taking 5 - 33. He had 2 balls at the number eleven (one injured player unable to bat) but Chiswick held out.
Division leaders Burnham lost but were crowned champions by virtue of Datchet failing to win. Even if Datchet repeat their July victory over Burnaham they cannot be caught.
