Datchet Lose to Champions

Datchet went into the game looking to attack the already crowned league champions Windsor. The captains agreed that aggressive cricket was the order of the day and with Datchet winning the toss, they duly elected to bat.

Tilley and George ignited the game with a series of boundaries putting the Windsor back up bowlers to the sword. George departed just shy of 50 and Tilley was joined by Thomas Jones, both of whom continued to plunder the attack. The introduction of 'Mr Windsor Cricket' Wes Nicholls slowed the rate, although he too was initally expensive being hit back over his head for six by Tilley.

Tilley eventually departed for 87 after a fine delivery by Nicholls, who is Windsor's stand out player. Datchet continued to push the run rate along through Arun Oram until they eventually declared after 40 overs for 222-5.

Windsor seemingly haven forgotten that a 'quick game is a good game' trudged towards the total in turgid fashion. Wickets fell regularly and once again it was left to Nicholls to come in and see Windsor through to the total. Excellent spells from James Lambert (who has bowled brilliantly all season), James Dick and Sam Finn are worthy of mention.

Datchet congratulate Windsor on their promotion and wish them the best of the luck, they may well need it!

All in all a good season for Datchet. That once again proved that they are more than capable in beating the leading teams, but highlighted a need to apply themselves in the low key encounters.

THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORTED US THROUGHOUT THE SEASON, WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEINGYOU NEXT YEAR!!!
